Upon arrival at the BB/GB Sembawang Campsite on Friday, we had a theory lesson on leadership and an hour to prepare our campfire skits. Following that, Cpl Orlando and his team of Secondary 3 Boys led the rest of the company in some night games.
The night games started with candle fight. Boys had to use candles to 'burn down' their opponents' balloon bases. Unfortunately for Bunk 2, their base fell and their balloons burst without a fight. We had to split the company into two teams instead.
Following that, the night games continued with the station games prepared by the Sec 3 Boys. Boys climbed through obstacle courses, threw water bombs, passed messages with their torch lights and flicked flour into each others' faces. It was a night of dirty fun.
The evening ended with supper and devotion. Big Mdm shared from the passage about Jesus feeding the 5000 and encouraged us to give what little we have to Jesus, for He will multiply what we give and bless many with our gifts.
The Boys did the rope course on Saturday morning. It was encouraging to see them pluck up the courage to go up the height and conquer their fears. Of special mention – our very own two Ninja Warriors, Lcp Marcus and Pte Renaldo. They paired up and first went up to the 3rd level of I don’t know what you call it. Then they paired up again, and went to the 4th level, and rang the bell. It was almost like planting the 28th BB Colours on top of Everest. Well done, guys!
That night, we had our campfire, organised by the Sec 3 Boys. Pastor Andrew graced the occasion, and shared a short devotion about servant leadership, using the passage about Jesus washing the disciples’ feet. The skits put up by the 3 bunks were meant to depict the lessons they learnt from the devotions. Samuel’s bunk won the best skit – not that they were very good, but simply because it was easier to understand than the rest. The songs and dances were fun too.
We had the birthday celebration for the June and July birthday people. It was Private Ee Zher’s birthday last Saturday too.
On Sunday morning, officer Justin took the devotion, sharing with us from John 15 about the Vine and the branches. This was after we had breakfast, and after that, lessons, evaluations, group photo-taking, and lunch before we left and returned to church.
We gave recognition to the best campers for the various levels. For Sec 1, it was Pte Nathaniel, for his active participation. For Sec 2, it was Pte Tian Rui, who was called upon to be the Bunk 2 leader at the last minute, and he did it very well. For Sec 3, it was Lcp Odwin, who led us in a time of rousing cheers during the campfire. The overall best camper was Cpl Samuel, our last minute CSM who showed a lot of leadership during throughout the camp.
We really fed the Boys very well. We seemed to be eating most of the time. Mr Norman Lim bought ice cream for us too. Thanks, Mr Lim! Thanks also to Mr Lim for using his car to bring Big Mdm to buy lunch and dinner for us. There was another Company having LDC at the campsite too, from Riverside Secondary. Compared to their meals, we were like gluttons!
God was very very good to us. It rained on Friday morning. And on Saturday too. But God stopped the rain so that we could have our outdoor activities – the night games on Friday night, the games at Sembawang Park on Saturday morning, the rope course on Saturday morning/afternoon, and the campfire on Saturday night. He is good indeed.
To get the ball rolling, here are the group pictures (nice!), and pictures of our two ninja warriors – Lcp Marcus and Pte Renaldo.
Mr Chin will upload the rest of the pictures later – it might take a while. Enjoy them as they are uploaded.
