Chinatown Heritage Trail 29 Nov 2008

The Boys had their Chinatown Heritage Trail yesterday. Some of the older Boys did it as their badgework, acting as "tour guides" to the rest of the Boys as they visited different places of historical interest in the Chinatown area - Outram Prison, coolie house, opium den, Ann Siang Hill, and Telok Ayer Methodist Church, among others. We also visited the Chinatown Heritage Centre - the exhibits were quite interesting.

Before I post some pictures from yesterday, here's an interesting snippet. After taking the group photo in front of the Chinatown Heritage Centre, an elderly Caucasian gentleman came up to me and asked if he could ask me a question. Of course, I said yes. He asked me how big is the Boys' Brigade in Singapore. How interesting. Turned out that he was from the U.K., and he was in the BB once. I think at the end of the conversation, he told me that he was the holder of the Queen's Badge. Didn't occur to me then to take down his name or take a picture with him.

Anyway, here the pictures from yesterday.

And here are some pictures of the area that I took.
