Letter from BB HQ
Dear Captains, Chaplains, Officers and Teachers-in-charge,
The Ministry of Education encourages Uniformed Groups to have a Best Unit Cadet in order to recognise outstanding members in the various Companies. The Boys’ Brigade, therefore, institutes the “Best Boy Award” for both the Juniors and Seniors Programme members. These Awards are known as “Tan Boon Chiang Medal” and “S P Chua Medal” for the Juniors and Seniors Programme Companies respectively.
The objectives of these Awards are: -
a. To give recognition to the most outstanding Boy in his respective BB Company.
b. To reward this Boy for the contributions made to his BB Company.
Hence, it would an honour for this Best Boy to receive the “Tan Boon Chiang Medal” or “S P Chua Medal” in front of his school cohort during an appropriate school event or during the Company’s Enrolment Ceremony.
We are pleased to announce the results of the applications for Best Boy Award in the attached word document. The “Tan Boon Chiang Medal” and “S P Chua Medal” are available for sale from the BB Shop at $70. Free engraving service of the Boy’s name is also made available.
For 2008, we had received applications from only 30% of BB Companies. We would like to encourage more BB Companies to make their submissions for this award in 2009.
We offer our heartiest congratulations to all recipients of the Awards and celebrate the achievements of the Companies in nurturing outstanding young Boys. We will also be sending a letter to your school Principal to announce the results of the successful Best Boy Award application soon.
