Officer Dennis' Birthday Dinner

Last night, a group of us gathered with Dennis to celebrate his birthday. Joshua C was supposed to join us, but he was still in Malaysia with his family.

We had steamboat buffet (eat as much as you can) dinner at Crystal Jade restaurant in Holland Village. mdm bought a small (but expensive) cake for Dennis, and we sang the happy birthday song, before some of us shared the cake with him.

The steamboat was not exceptional. Most of the food items were inexpensive stuff, except the prawns. What most of us enjoyed most were the xiao long baos, which we re-ordered and re-orderer.

Hike 6-7 Jun 09

We are now having our adventure hike programme in church.

The officers met earlier in church to go through the safety measures to make sure that we have everything ready for the hike.

After a short muster parade, we gathered in the multi-purpose hall for singalong and devotion. Kevin led us in singing some songs, including the song of this month - Beautiful One. Officer Teck Chai share about self-respect during the devotion.

This was followed by lunch in the hawkers centre. After that, we all went back to church, and the Boys did MGR plotting for the check-points, while some Boys took their tests.

It is now 14:46 hours. At 15:00 hours, we will leave for the starting point for the hike, which is at the Kranji Reservoir this year.

Here's us boarding the bus, after officer Wen Wei and Daryl conducted final checks to make sure that we have everything we need for the hike, and us getting all excited in the bus on the way to Kranji Park.

After a final briefing and prayer, the squads took a group photo each, and set off on the hike.

I followed my squad, the rocking Corinthians. Here are some pictures I took along the way, starting with the only squad that carried umbreallas as they walked. Philemon! - who else?

We stopped along Jalan Perahu outside the AVA centres, where we had our dinner. Dinner was packet rice, an apple and a can of 100+ for everyone. Then the Boys continued the hike, stopping along the way to fill up their water bottles from the safety vehicle. One of the water points was just outside the Choa Chu Kang cemetry.

The first squad to reach church was Philemon (the umbrellas must have given them some push from the wind), followed by Corinthians (we didn't need umbrellas to help us), Ephesians, and Solomon. It's not a competition. Thank God that everyone completed the hike safely.

After some stretching exercise, the early squads went to bathe. When Solomon reached back safely and finished their stretching exercises, we had supper - paos and delicious Milo which I prepared.

After that, I don't know what happened, because I went home to my comfortable bed. The Boys were dismissed at about 8 am this morning, and the officers and primers will attend worship later.

A big thanks to officer Wen Wei and Daryl for organising the hike this year, to the officers, primers, uncle Yew Moi and mdm who walked with the Boys, to MDM for driving the safety vehicle, to Mr Chin for keeping Jovis and Reynaldo alive with his jokes, and finally to Guan Long and Kai Xiang for giving us a helping leg.

See you all at next year's hike!
