Many Posts For Today 02 Aug 08

What a long day.

I started with devotion for the Junior Boys this morning. The story was about Saul disobeying God when he did not completely destroy the Amalekites. The Boys were surprising attentive and quiet this morning. Many of them were in the other group training for the Character Quest, which is about 2 weeks away.

After the devotion, we had a short farewell for Ms Fong. She is going to Hong Kong to teach in the International School there for 3 years. Let's continue to commit her to God, and pray that He will continue to use her to bless her students. Here are some pictures of the farewell.

After the Juniors Parade, Yifeng, Jeffrey, Guan Long and I went for the Seniors Parade in Shuqun Secondary. After lunch, we went back to Shuqun Primary, to join the Boys for the BB Cares project. We joined the Yong En Day Care volunteers to distribute bread to the senior residents staying in the one-room flats in Block 5 in Chinatown. According to Ms Peggy, many of them came from China when they were still teenagers. Many of them remained single, and they stay alone. We met an aunty who is 91 years old. She spoke Cantonese, and was in a wheel chair. But she was very lucid, and could hear our questions and gave very clear answers. She even cooks her own food, using a charcoal stove. Another aunty is 89 years old. She is mobile, but has some hearing problem. Nonetheless, she could hold a conversation with us without any problems. She does her own marketing, cooks for herself, and cleans her apartment on her own. Really marvellous ladies, and they loved having us talk with them. Here are some pictures.

After dismissing the Boys at Shuqun Primary, I had dinner with Dennis and his brother Darren. Read about the dinner here.

And finally, presenting our very own lip synching singer.... Joseph Isaac ...

Joseph is not only a fantastic lip synching singer. He's also a good artist. Look at this piece of drawing which was put up on one of the notice boards in Shuqun Secondary.

Like I said at the start of this blog - what a long day. And it was fantastically hot today.
